Application materials
for Archdiocese of Washington schools are available on-line. You only need to
complete one application packet for the archdiocese.
Your information then will be included on
a list that is updated monthly and sent to
all Catholic schools within the archdiocese. In addition, you are
encouraged to contact principals directly
to inquire about openings they may have. All
principals make their own hiring decisions
within diocesan guidelines, which includes
diocesan approval of new teachers for diocesan
schools. Independent Catholic schools within the archdiocese
have their own employment applications.
What
are the degree and certification requirements
for teaching in a Catholic school?
Teachers must have at least a bachelor’s
degree from an accredited college or university
to teach in schools in the Archdiocese of
Washington.
Archdiocese of Washington certification:
Teachers in archdiocesan elementary schools
must meet the archdiocese’s certification
requirements within three years of their date
of hire. If you have questions about this

How
does the principal hiring process work?
Applications
for the Archdiocese of Washington are available on-line. You only need to
complete one application packet for the archdiocese.
Your information will then be sent to the
search committees of the schools that are
looking for new principals. Each search committee
will contact the candidates it wishes
to interview directly. Independent Catholic schools within the archdiocese
have their own employment applications.
What
are the degree and certification requirements
for being principal of a Catholic school?
A principal
must be a practicing Catholic with a Master
of Arts in Educational Leadership (or an equivalent
educational field), at least five years teaching
experience, three of which are in Catholic
schools, and demonstrated leadership ability.
